Vine coming to Windows Phone 8, as arePath and Flipboard

Nokia is going all out to ensure that its newest Lumia 1020 gets all the attention it expects. Along with the phone, Nokia has announced the arrival of much-awaited apps like Vine, Path and Flipboard on the Windows Phone 8 platform.
It had been announcedby Oggl creator Hipstamatic back inMay that its Windows Phone 8 app will come to Nokia’s newestrelease and this has been confirmedby Nokia in a
press statement. Announced during the Lumia 925 event, Hipstamatic will be coming to Nokia’s Lumia 1020 as well.
Not exactly a substitute for themuch-awaited Instagram, Oggl will let users add filtersand make edits before being able to post to their social networking accounts like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Nokia has also announced that Vine will be coming to Windows Phone 8 soon. Clearly, as far as videois concerned, Vine is winning the race on Microsoft’s platform. While WP users still request and plead with Facebook to release Instagram, Twitter has slyly moved in for the kill with this app announcement.
It isn’t certain whether Twitter will be building this app by itself yet but word is that the app will be hitting the Windows Phone 8 app store later this year.
Flipboardis going to be available on Windows Phone 8 devices soon as well. Again, not much has been revealed about the app’s building or its release date. There is no saying how different or similar the Flipboard app will be to its iOS and Android counterparts, but one can imagine the use of Live Tiles being absolutely appropriate for building it.
Path too has confirmed that it will indeed be introducing an app for the OS. Announcing that Windows Phone 8 had been a platform most requested by its users across the world, Path said it is building the app in col labor action with Nokia. “We’ve worked closely with the team at Nokia to build path for Windows Phone, with a special focus on the new Nokia Lumia 1020 device,” the team wrote in its blog. The company has announced that it will be using the new Nokia SDK to be able to take advantage of Lumia 1020’s camera features.

Nokia Unveils Lumia 1020 With 41Megapixel Camera

The Windows Phone device features Zeiss optics with floating lens technology and Xenon flash.
The Nokia N8 was the unbeatable camera-phone of its time before it was replaced by the Nokia 808 Pure View – the world's first mobile handset with a 41 megapixel camera last year. In our tests, the handset did match up to the DSLR's quality in good lighting conditions. While it had outstanding imaging capabilities, the phone was let down by the ageing Nokia Belle (formerly known as Symbian) platform. Needless to say, fans were waiting for the Finnish company to port this camera tech to its modern Lumia line-up. After months of rumous and leaked images, Nokia has finally announced the Nokia Lumia 1020 at its New York event today.
Unlike the 808 PureView, the Lumia 1020 seems perfectly pocketable. It's actually based on Lumia 920's poly carbonate unibody design. The handsets sport a 4.5" AMOLED screen with pixel dimensions768x1280. The display is protected by a 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 2. Thanks to ClearBlack tech, the screen is said to offer relatively better sunlight legibility. And yes, it's a super sensitive screen, which means you can use it even with gloves on. The phone is powered by 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon CPU, and has 2 GB RAM. Internal storage is 32 GB, but there's no microSD card slot.
The USP of course is its 41 megapixel BSI (Backside illuminated) sensor with floating lens technology. It's a 6-lens assembly manufactured by Zeiss (earlier known as Carl Zeiss). There's also a Xenon flash, which is generally found in standalone cameras. The phone can record 1080p at 30 fps with stereo sound.
For this Windows Phone 8 device, Nokia has specially designed the Pro Camera app that gives total control over parameters such as shutter speed, exposure, white balance, and ISO.
The Lumia 1020 will be available in Black, White, and Yellow – no love for Red and Cyan. It will first land on AT&T on 26th of this month, and will be gradually rolled out in the rest of the world. However, there’s no word on its off-contract pricing.
