Plastic iPhone appears with FCC markings

The plastic iPhone has leaked enough times now that there’s nothing particularly unique about another leaked image – except for the one that leaked on Weibo today showing FCC markings on the back of the shell. Previous leaks of the handset have shown the same design, but only with theApple and iPhone logos.
The designof the handsetfeatured in theimage is the same as theone we’ve seen several times now, not theleast of which was thegallery that appeared comparingthe plastic model to the iPhone 5. The speaker holes, microphone, and such are the same, with theonly notable differencebeing metal edgingaround the headphoneand lightning ports.
Unfortunately, no details about the handsetwas provided with theWeibo post, but the image is interesting nonetheless.According to a leak that surfaced earlier this month – also on Weibo – theplastic iPhone will be available in two models, bothof which look the same but feature different hardware and will come in at different price points.
Reportedly, the lesser of thetwo models is codenamed Zenevo, and will feature a Samsung H5P dual processor and 1GB of RAM, as well as Bluetooth 4.0 and FDD 4G connectivity. The other model, according to tipsters, is codenamed Zegato/Bertone and will feature an H6P processor and 1GB of RAM, as well as Bluetooth 4.0 and TDD 4G LTE support.
Also leaked today was a rumor that thehandset would be announcedon September 6, but word has surfaced since then stating this isn’t the case. As with all the rumors, take it all with a grain of salt. Check out thetimeline below for more rumors that have cropped up on recent weeks.

Apple reportedly testing larger iPhone, 13-inch tablet screens

Apple is reportedly testing screens for a larger iPhone, and some sort of tablet device that measures 13 inches diagonally.
If you compare the iPhone to any of the most popular Android phones, there's one big thing you'll notice. The iPhone's screen looks positively puny next to phones like the Galaxy Note , Galaxy S4, and HTC One . According to a new report, though, Apple might be cooking up something that will even that playing field.
Sources from the Wall Street Journal say that Apple is testing larger screens for both the iPhone and the iPad. All we know about this iPhone screen is that it's "larger than four inches," but Apple is also apparently testing a tablet screen that measures nearly 13-inches.
That Apple would be testing a larger iPhone is hardly a surprise. Samsung's popular Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 have screens that are 4.8 inches and 5 inches, respectively. The iPhone 5 only has 63 percent as much screen area as the GS4. Tastes vary, but for customers that do want those larger screens, their only real option right now is Android.
The real surprise here is the mention of the 13-inch tablet device (the report says that it's slightly less than 13 inches diagonally). It's hard to imagine there being much demand for a giant iPad, but one possibility is that this is a touch-based MacBook that runs iOS.
Windows8 hybrids haven't exactly been flying off the shelves, but perhaps Apple is exploring its own version that it believes could be more successful.
The WSJ generally has reliable Apple information, but the biggest thing to remember here is that Apple is only testing prototypes here. The company likely builds hundreds,if not thousands,of devices for every one that makes it to market. So you'll want to ingest the appropriate grains of salt.

New leaks show differentcoloured parts for low-cost iPhone

If the previous leaks of the cheaper iPhone still hadn't convinced you that it will have a wide colour palette and will be made of plastic, here's another one. Some pictures of volume rockers and lock switches of the affordable iPhone have been leaked on Chinese micro-blogging site
Sina Weibo. The leak more-or-less confirms that the affordable iPhone will be made of plastic and will have a wide variety of colour options—yellow, blue, red and green.
Just recently, we saw pictures of a bright green back panel with the Apple logo and "iPhone" etched on it, indicating that it may belong to the low-cost phone that the company is reportedly making—sometimes referred to as the iPhone 5S and iPhone Mini.
The source of the earlier leak adds that the outer case may not have been designed as a single unit. It says that "the hull itself and the panel on which the various internal components of the device will be attached are two distinct elements." The placement of the multiple attachment points of the phone’s internal components such as the motherboard and the connection port Lightning is roughly similar to that of the iPhone 5.
Recently, sources, even those in the supply chain in Asia, told Reuters that Apple is looking to bring at least two iPhones next year with larger displays—a 4.7-inch one and one with a 5.7-inch display. In fact, sources told Reuters that suppliers were approached with plans for those iPhones. That said, they have stressed that it is yet to be confirmed whether the company will actually launch its iPhone with bigger displays.

Google-Apple relationship improved: Eric Schmidt

The relationship between Google and Apple has improved over the past year, Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt said.
SUN VALLEY, IDAHO: The relationship between Google and Apple has improved over the past year with the rival technology companies and sometimes partners conducting "lots and lots" of meetings, Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt said.
Schmidt did not provide details about the nature of the meetings during comments to reporters at the annual Allen andCo media conference in Sun Valley, Idaho on Thursday. He noted that Google chief business officer Nikesh Arora, who joined him at the press briefing, was leading many of the discussions.
The two companies are in "constant business discussions on a long list of issues," Schmidt said.
Schmidt once sat on Apple's board of directors, but the relationship between the two companies has frayed as competition has increased. Apple created the smartphone market with its iconic iPhone, but Google's Android mobile software is now featured on three of every four smartphone sold globally.
Apple has sought to less units reliance on Google's online services, most famouslyin 2012 when it dumped Google's Maps product in favour of its own mapping software. Apple's maps service however proved to be ridden with errors, and Google ended up updating its map application for the latest version of Apple's iPhone.
The world's No. 1 internet search company, Google has moved to extend its reach into new markets in recent years, acquiring mobile phone maker Motorola Mobility, offering high-speed internet service in a few US cities and developing wearable computers and technology for self-driving cars.
Schmidt said that Google's self-driving automobile technology was years, rather than decades away from commercial availability but that "the exact way in which it all plays out is not obvious to me."
"The technology has to be right. The regulation has to be right. The partnerships have to be right," he said, noting that Google has talked to "every single car company."

Budget iPhone multi color casing and iPhone 5S chassis pops online

More images of the alleged iPhone Lite are leaked online,showing multi-color variants of the smartphone. From last couple of days the cheaper version of Apple smartphone is roaming around the web a lot. It is going to be a mid-range smartphone from the Cupertino smartphone manufacturer. Apple is basically going to target the Samsung Galaxy Series smart phones with the cheaper version of its flagship device.
According to sources the low cost iPhone will be having multi-color choices including yellow, Blue, Green and Red. Apple is going to design the phone with cheaper plastic materials to keep the price down. iPhone 5S chassis is also leaked along with the cheaper iPhone’s casing. It looks a lot similar to the current version of the phone and will be sharing the same metal design.
There were reports that the iPhone 5S will come with a larger display but the latest leaks shows it will be having the same 4inch screen. The resolution of the device is also expected to remain unchanged at 1136*640 pixels. It is expected to arrive in three different 16GB, 32GBand 64GB memory models. It might also come with a 12MP shooter with better camera app user interface.
Apple is expected to launch the low cost iPhone Lite in August this year. And, the iPhone 5S might hit the market shelves in September 2013. Some other reports also suggest that the Cupertino tech giant might also introduce a new Gold color choice with the latest iPhone.
