After tasting success in location service business, Here, Nokia has unveiled two new apps namely, Here Drive+ and Here Transit for Lumia as well as other Windows Phone 8 devices. The previous version of the apps were available on selected Lumia phones only.
The Here Drive + is especially designed to voice-guide turn-by-turn navigation with offline maps that will work seamlessly without a mobile data connection. The updated app also adds My Commute feature to improve everyday commute of theuser. The feature is able to learn daily driving habits to provide predictable and personalized commute recommendations keeping current trafficconditions in notice.
On a disappointment note the app will be available free of cost for Lumia devices from Windows Phone Stores but will cost EUR 34.99 fornon Lumia Windows Phone 8 devicesglobally. This is certainly a good news forthe owners of Windows Phone 8 powered Nokia Lumia phones.
The other app Here Transit is for those Windows Phone 8 device users who usepublictransport forcommuting. The app for other Windows Phone 8 phones will again be available for free of charge in select countries like Canada, France, Germany, UK, US etc and for a price tag of EUR 1.99 in the Windows Phone Store in some other countries.
As per the reports both the apps will be released globally in a couple of weeks. Speaking over the launch, Thom Brenner, vice president, Windows Phone applications, Here said "With the global release of Here Drive+ for all Windows Phone 8 devices we will further extend our Here business and deliver on our promise of making Here experiences available for as many people as possible. The more people are using our location offering the better it will get for everyone. At the same time this release also demonstrates our commitment to further strengthen the Windows Phone ecosystem with our maps assets."
