ZTE teases Geek, the world’s first Tegra 4 smartphone

ZTE smartphones may not have thesame international standing as fellowChinese company Huawei or even Lenovo, but thecompany has a good followinginits home country and there’s a new smartphone inthe works that could just earn it some more international street cred.
Meet theZTE Geek or ZTE U988S, a smartphonethat leaked earlier through China’s TENAA certification database. Now, thecompany has decidedto share some images of thephone on Sina Weibo. The company also confirmedthat the phone will launch on carrier China Mobileand will be the first Tegra 4 smartphone. The quad-core chipset’s CPU will be clocked at 1.8GHz, making it one of most powerful processorsin themarket. The phone will have 2GB of RAM, according to the regulatory filing revealed earlier.
It will have thesame 5-inch LCD that graced the Grand S and will also share its 1,920 x 1,080 resolution making this a full-HD phone. The Geek has a similar designas theGrand S,with a very compact looking bodyand what lookslike soft-touch polycarbonate. The front-facing camera has been dialled down to 1-megapixel from 2-megapixeland the primary camera is an 8-megapixel unit. Of course, this one is specificto China Mobile's network, so if the Geek does get an international release, thespecs might be revised.
We know that the company is preparing to launcha slew of smartphones in Indiaand will be unveilingits portfolio later this month. Let’s hopeIndia gets a taste of thelatest ZTE smartphones.
